About Dr. Ruman

Jane I. Ruman, M.D. brings over 20 years of experience in reproductive medicine to TFI. Dr. Ruman earned her medical degree at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where she participated in nationally recognized research on factors that control embryo implantation. She completed her residency training in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Long Island Jewish Medical Center, where she continued to publish award-winning articles on infertility treatment.

After the completion of her residency training, Dr. Ruman was selected for a Fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at New York Presbyterian Hospital – Columbia University, where she authored and co-authored several publications on egg donation and fertility treatment.

She then spent her clinical time at Reproductive Medical Associates of New York, where she served as a medical student and resident educator at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. As a fertility doctor and OB/GYN, Dr. Ruman’s expertise spans across the entire continuum of reproductive health, from trying to conceive to fertility treatment.

Dr. Ruman was fascinated by the intricate science involved in human reproduction, but it’s the patients themselves that sustain her love for her work today. Dr. Ruman works at both the Nashville and Franklin locations for Tennessee Fertility Institute.

  • What do you like most about what you do?

    Having the privilege to help patients achieve their reproductive goals.

  • In practice, what are you most proud of?

    I am most proud of my relationships with my patients, being able to keep my patients hopeful and positive despite challenging circumstances.

  • Why did you choose to work in the field of reproductive medicine?

    Initially, I was drawn to the amazing intricacy of the science involving human reproduction, especially the process of embryo implantation.  Now, it is the patients themselves that sustain my love of the field.

  • Share something unique people don’t know about you.

    I am an avid gardener and raises backyard chickens.

  • What do you do for fun in your spare time?

    Besides gardening, I like to cook for my family and spend as much quality time with my children as possible.
